Hello, we are Egmont and we’re here to encourage more and more children to enjoy the sheer pleasure of reading.
Our well-loved characters and popular brands ensure that children can enjoy stories with their favourite friends or get under the skin of their latest online or gaming passion. We publish classics like the Mr. Men and Little Miss or Thomas & Friends, to more modern faces such as Mr Tumble and Minecraft.
We publish fabulously funny, wonderfully weird, fantastically frightening and rivetingly real fiction titles. Our books include Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, the best-selling War Horse by Michael Morpurgo, classic’s from Enid Blyton, and Jim Smith’s Barry Loser, winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.
Our picture book range is bursting with brilliant bedtime stories, action-packed adventures and rib-tickling tales. From Julia Donaldson, to Kristina Stephenson’s Sir Charlie Stinky Socks, or classics like Ant and Bee, our picture books will keep you entertained.
Whether that’s the perfect picture book for bedtime, the most exciting non-fiction, favourite TV character stories or the best novels to read under the covers, we aspire to bring stories to life.
HarperCollins UK acquired Egmont UK Ltd on 1 May 2020 from the Danish media group, Egmont. Prior to that, Egmont acquired Reed Children’s Books in 1998, which comprised a number of successful imprints and household names. These included, Methuen, the original home of Winnie-the-Pooh and the English language editions of Tintin; Heinemann, the original home of Thomas-the-Tank Engine, Mammoth and Dean, which happens to be one of the oldest children’s imprints still in existence (Dean & Sons was founded around 1800 and was a pioneer in pop-up books). Egmont merged the Reed Children’s Books portfolio with World International, the original home of the Mr. Men series, to form one of the leading children’s specialist publishers in the UK.
